Every research output is translated into a specific design input. User interviews, contextual inquiry, and heuristic evaluations produce findings that are mapped directly to information architecture decisions, interaction patterns, and interface priorities — not compiled into a report that gets referenced once and shelved. Research and design run as a connected process, not sequential handoffs.

Complexity that exists in the domain cannot be removed — it can only be managed well or managed poorly. We map the full task structure, identify where cognitive load peaks relative to user capability and context, and design interaction patterns that distribute complexity appropriately. Edge cases, error states, and recovery paths receive the same design attention as the primary workflow, because that is where user trust is won or lost.

Design systems fail when they are built for designers rather than for the teams implementing them. We build component libraries with engineering constraints as a primary input — covering component specifications, usage guidelines, and edge case behaviour in documentation that survives handoff. The system is scoped to what the product actually needs rather than built as a comprehensive exercise, and it evolves alongside the product rather than becoming a maintenance burden.

Usability testing is scoped to specific decision points rather than run as a comprehensive evaluation. We identify the design decisions carrying the most risk, build focused prototypes against those scenarios, and test with real users before engineering investment is committed. Findings are translated into specific design changes with clear rationale — not general observations that require interpretation. The cycle de-risks decisions at the design stage rather than discovering problems after engineering work is complete.

AI UX fails when intelligent behaviour surprises users rather than assists them. We design interaction patterns that make AI behaviour legible — surfacing confidence levels, showing reasoning where appropriate, and giving users meaningful control over AI-driven outcomes. Conversational interfaces, intelligent recommendations, and adaptive experiences are designed around the mental models users already have, so AI capability feels like a natural extension of the product rather than an unpredictable layer imposed on top of it.
